Program Rationale:
The unit of MET offers an Associate Degree program
in Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE).
-
Non-Destructive
Evaluation (NDE) that encompasses Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) has
developed very rapidly into a widely accepted practice driven by the
needs of modern Industry.
|
|
|
|
| |
-
NDT techniques
are widely used to detect and monitor defects in engineering
materials such as cracks, stress concentrations and corrosion in
piping and other mechanical systems in the primary industries such
as oil and gas production plants. Other industries, such as the
transportation sector is another big user of NDT techniques for
maintenance control.
-
As new NDE
methods and techniques have been invented, developed and applied,
the need for trained technicians has grown rapidly. It has now
become apparent that NDE technicians and engineers with suitable
training and qualifications are in continuously increasing demand.
All courses are designed to emphasize practical
application. Most courses have integrated laboratory/practical sessions
to help students relate theory to practice. Industrial site visits and
co-op training demonstrate subject applications and develop the
student's maturity, hands-on & interpersonal skills, industrial
awareness, etc.
